We can see sadhguru Jaggi vasudev as a sensible Osho. So much of controversy surrounded Osho’s life, whereas Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev has kept himself a safe distance from all controversies. In spite of this, he has attained so much of popularity all over the world. Entering into small controversy here and there will help one to grow and attain popularity. I feel as of now Sadhguru has not been caught into this trap.
As far as his teachings are concerned it is nothing new. But all the Upanishadic teachings need a master to be fully grasped and obsorbed, or else it will be mere words. It will not create the necessary impact in us. Take for example Swami Vivekananda. He had already read enormous volumes of books before he met Shri. Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. But the books he read had not taken him beyond doubt. Only his meeting with Ramakrishna Paramahamsa transformed him. Likewise we always need a guru to be transformed from the mundane to something which we dont know at present.
I feel, for that we need a master and in the present day masters, Sadhguru Jaggivasudev can be counted as one among the top. There is always a criticism regarding his lifestyle and close association with top politicians to achive his goals. As they grew, a beautiful temple and ashrams have been constructed at velliangiri and at present the common devotee is not allowed to go beyond the temple unless you know someone inside the ashram. Initially when I did my programmes this was not the case and everyone was free to stay in the ashram and move freely with the inmates as well. But as the organisation grew, a big gap has come between the master and the common struggling disciple. Even meeting or seeing him from a distance has become a problem. This is slightly disturbing.
Sometimes we feel that in the present day world we are not able to see a guru as simple as Shri. Ramakrishna Paramahamsa or Ramana Maharishi of Thiruvannamalai. But anyway the qualities of gurus differ and it is better we accept the way it comes to us at this point of time.
